Correct name | Tradescantia spathacea ‘Vittata’. |
Name status | Established synonym, another published name for the cultivar Tradescantia spathacea ‘Vittata’. Established by Rinz & Rinz (1862, p. 67). Because it was published before 1959, the Latin name with no specific description can be established (Brickell et al., 2016, Arts. 21.11, 27.1). Based on the Latin name, it is assumed to refer to the only variegated Tradescantia spathacea known at the time. The older and most widely-used name ‘Vittata’ is now accepted for this cultivar.
