‘Striata’

Details

Correct nameTradescantia fluminensis ‘Variegata’.
Name statusEstablished synonym, another published name for the cultivar Tradescantia fluminensis ‘Variegata’.

Published with a description by Storrs, Harrison & Co (1879, p. 33). Because it was published before 1959, the Latin name can be established (Brickell et al., 2016, Art. 21.11).

Based on the description, and the judgement of Bailey & Bailey (1941, p. 736) and Staff of the L. H. Bailey Hortorium (1976, p. 1120), the name is assumed to refer to the same cultivar as Tradescantia fluminensis ‘Variegata’. The older and more widely-used name ‘Variegata’ is now accepted for this cultivar.
