‘Rubra Semi-plena’

Details

Full nameTradescantia (Andersoniana Group) ‘Ruba Semi-plena’.
Name statusAccepted, the valid name for a unique cultivar.

Established by Ellwanger & Barry (1868, p. 80). Because it was published before 1959, the Latin name with no description can be established (Brickell et al., 2016, Arts. 21.11, 27.1).

The name was originally spelled ‘Rubra Semi-pleno’, but this is corrected to match the grammatical gender of the genus (Brickell et al., 2016, Art. 21.8).
OriginsUnknown.
ClassificationLike other hardy garden hybrids, it is now placed in the Andersoniana Group. These hybrids are sometimes mislabelled as Tradescantia virginiana or the invalid botanical hybrid Tradescantia × andersoniana.
