Listed with no description by Royal Horticultural Society (2002, p. 690). No hardcopy description has been found, so the name is not established (Brickell et al., 2016, Art. 27.1).

Based on the photos from Kernock Park Plants (2011), the name refers to the same plant as Tradescantia pallida ‘Purpurea’. The earlier and more widely-used name ‘Purpurea’ is now accepted for this cultivar.
