Correct name

Tradescantia pallida ‘Purpurea’.

Name status

Established synonym, another published name for the cultivar Tradescantia pallida ‘Purpurea’. Established with a description by R. Vincent, Jr. & Sons (1931, p. 24). Based on the description, it is assumed to refer to the same plant as Tradescantia pallida ‘Purpurea’. The later but more widely-used name ‘Purpurea’ is now accepted for this cultivar. Not to be confused with: Tradescantia (Andersoniana Group) ‘Purple’, the accepted name for a different cultivar. Tradescantia zebrina ‘Purple’, an invalid trade name for another cultivar.
