Description
Described by Rachel Diallo.
| Species | Tradescantia zebrina. |
| Growth habit | Stems initially grow upright but soon start to sprawl and trail out of any container. |
| Foliage | Succulent trailing stems, 3-5mm in diameter. Internodes 2-6cm long, typically longest near the base of the plant and becoming increasingly compact toward the growing apices. Upper leaf surfaces are vibrant, bright lime-green to medium green, with no silver banding or variegation. Under bright light, the margins develop a thin, distinct, dark magenta or maroon outline. The midvein area can develop a soft purplish blush. In very intense light, the whole leaf surface develops a mottled or marbled purple overlay, particularly on older or most exposed leaves. Lower leaf surfaces are solid, bright apple-green. Under high light, a prominent purplish-magenta hue flushes along the midvein. |
| Flowers | Not observed. |
| Comparisons | Compared to ‘Flame Dance’, the leaves lack any silver bands or streaks, and are brighter green with less purple pigment. |
