Details
Correct name | Tradescantia fluminensis ‘Variegata’. |
Name status | Established synonym, another published name for the cultivar Tradescantia fluminensis ‘Variegata’. Established by Junge (1899, p. 39). Because it was published before 1959, the Latin name with no description can be established (Brickell et al., 2016, Arts. 21.11, 27.1). Based on the given species Tradescantia viridis (used as a horticultural name for Tradescantia fluminensis), the name is assumed to refer to the only variegated Tradescantia fluminensis cultivar known at the time. The more widely-used name ‘Variegata’ is now accepted for this cultivar. |
