‘Albo Striata’

Details

Full nameTradescantia fluminensis ‘Albo Striata’.
Name statusEstablished but questionable, it may refer to a unique cultivar or may be a synonym for Tradescantia fluminensis ‘Variegata’ or Tradescantia fluminensis ‘Albostriata’.

Published by Heinricher (1917, p. 40). Because it was published before 1959, the Latin name with no description can be established (Brickell et al., 2016, Arts. 21.11, 27.1).

The name most likely refers to another variegated cultivar of Tradescantia fluminensis known at the time, such as ‘Variegata’ or ‘Albostriata’. But with no description it is impossible to link it to any particular plant known today, so the name is established and treated as lost or an unknown synonym.
OriginsUnknown.
ClassificationOriginally published as Tradescantia Fluminensis var. albo striata (Heinricher, 1917, p. 40). This is not an accepted variety of Tradescantia fluminensis (POWO, 2022), so it is now treated as a cultivar (Brickell et al., 2016, Art. 21.6).
Legal protectionNone.
AvailabilityThe name is most likely a synonym for Tradescantia fluminensis ‘Variegata’ or Tradescantia fluminensis ‘Albostriata’. But this is not certain, so the plant is assumed to be lost.

Description
