Bred, named, and distributed by Spruyt Select G.C.V. (2022).
ClassificationLike other hardy garden hybrids, it is now placed in the Andersoniana Group. These hybrids are sometimes mislabelled as Tradescantia virginiana or the invalid botanical hybrid Tradescantia × andersoniana.
Legal protectionProtected in the UK (Spruyt Select CommV, 2023) and the EU (Spruyt Select G.C.V, 2022).
AvailabilityWidely available, particularly in Europe.

FoliageBlue-green with a purple tinge.
FlowersProfuse flowers from May onwards. 2.5-3cm across. Very dark purple.
ComparisonsCompared to ‘Concord Grape’, ‘JS Brainstorm’ is lower growing with darker foliage and flowers.
