Classification | Like other hardy garden hybrids, it is now placed in the Andersoniana Group. These hybrids are sometimes mislabelled as Tradescantia virginiana or the invalid botanical hybrid Tradescantia × andersoniana. |
Legal protection | Protected in the UK (Spruyt Select CommV, 2023) and the EU (Spruyt Select G.C.V, 2022). |
Availability | Widely available, particularly in Europe. |

Growth habit | 40cm high. |
Foliage | Blue-green with a purple tinge. |
Flowers | Profuse flowers from May onwards. 2.5-3cm across. Very dark purple. |
Comparisons | Compared to ‘Concord Grape’, ‘JS Brainstorm’ is lower growing with darker foliage and flowers. |
