Description

Described with reference to the RHS Colour Chart (6th Edition; 2019 reprint).

SpeciesTradescantia zanonia.
Growth habitVery strong, upright, rarely-branching stalks, with spiraling leaves.
FoliageStems are 13-20mm thick with internodes 4-12cm long, hairless, moderate olive green (146A) to strong yellow green (144A).

Leaves are ovals with acuminate (long pointed) tips, 15-30cm long and 5-7cm wide, hairless except for a cluster of hairs at the top of the sheath.

Upper surfaces are moderate olive green (146A to 137A), with randomly-scattered fine streaks of strong yellow green (144B) to pale greenish yellow (160C). Undersides are moderate yellow green (146D), margins are greyish purplish red (N77B), and sheaths are light yellow green (145C).
