Published by Glasshouse Works (1984, p. 17). Although the duplicated Latin name should not be established (Brickell et al., 2016, Art. 21.11), no other name has been used for this plant, so it is now accepted.

Not to be confused with T. spathacea ‘Vittata’, a cultivar of a related species which is still in circulation.
